Increased paving efforts in Idaho Springs will cause delays this week as Interstate 70 goes down to one lane in each direction between Colorado Boulevard and Fall River Road.
On Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 a.m., westbound I-70 will be limited to one lane as crews clear snow and ice in preparation for paving. By 8 p.m., eastbound I-70 will also go down to one lane.
Paving will begin Monday at 9 a.m., lasting until Tuesday at 11 p.m. Officials said the construction will cause traffic delays of at least two hours.

Motorists are advised to avoid traveling in the affected areas until Wednesday.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is planning to finish as much paving as possible for the Westbound I-70 Mountain Express Lane project before winter temperatures set in.
Crews can only pave during the daytime hours when temperatures are warmer. Closures will continue through the evening for other parts of the project.
