Copper Mountain to relaunch fundraising for environmental nonprofits
Copper Mountain will relaunch its Play It Forward Wednesdays program, donating portions of daily lift sales to local environmental nonprofits, the resort announced Wednesday.
Beginning Jan. 6, Copper will donate $5 from every discounted lift ticket purchased online to 13 community nonprofits on select Wednesdays throughout the season.
“We are proud to launch another year of giving at Copper Mountain during this time of local strain and unpredictability,” said resort President Dustin Lyman.
The fundraising program is part of Copper’s “Play Forever” commitment to help protect the environment and enable outdoor recreation.
“(It gives) us an opportunity to give back to organizations that strive to improve the well-being of our mountain environment,” Lyman said. “We’re excited to provide support to those that have seen a tremendous increase in need.”
Last year, Copper’s Play It Forward program, then held on Fridays, raised more than $69,000 for local nonprofits.
This year’s fundraising proceeds will be donated to organizations that aim to provide support for local relief, on-mountain participation and environmental causes.
Nonprofits include Adaptive Action Sports, Building Hope, Colorado Rapid Avalanche Deployment, High Country Conservation Center, Blue River Watershed Group, Summit Community Care Clinic and SOS Outreach.
