Man arrested after crashing into Lakewood police vehicle, leading slow-speed chase
kali9
A man was arrested in the early hours Christmas Eve after a short on-foot pursuit after allegedly striking a Lakewood Police Department’s unit in a stolen vehicle.
Lakewood police officers located a stolen vehicle near West Ohio Avenue and Depew Street on the eastern border of Lakewood and Denver about 1:15 a.m., the Lakewood Police Department said.
Officers attempted to disable the vehicle, but the driver was able to flee through a fenced yard after striking the officers’ unit, which caused severe damage to the stolen vehicle.
Ten minutes later, officers found the damaged vehicle and began a pursuit at 10 mph.
The suspect ended the slow-speed pursuit in Denver and began to flee on foot.
He was apprehended shortly after running away by Denver and Lakewood officers.
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash and pursuit, police said.
