Man accused of going on mini-rampage at JeffCo Sheriff HQ was in possession of explosive components
Authorities say the Jefferson County man who struck a marked patrol unit and threw items into the headquarters of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was in possession of explosive materials.
Samuel G. Livingston, 61, threw a number of items, including a bar of silver into the headquarters on Friday, that if combined could create an explosive device, officials said in a press release.
Livingston was arrested on Friday after authorities say he purposely drove his black Ford Shelby F-150 truck into a marked patrol unit outside of JSCO’s headquarters at 200 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden just after 11 a.m. Friday, said Mike Taplin, the public information officer for department.
The vehicle belonged to an on-duty, phone reporting deputy who was inside at the time of the crash, The Denver Gazette previously reported.
After striking the marked unit, Livingston allegedly drove around the campus to the jail and damaged the glass door by kicking it.
Livingston proceeded to a different entrance on the east side of the facility, where he allegedly threw a bar of silver, shattering the glass of the door, before being apprehended by deputies and officers from the Golden Police Department.
No officers were injured as a result of the incident.
Livingston has been charged with possession of explosives or incendiary devices, criminal mischief and resisting arrest, according to online court records.
He is being held in Jefferson County Jail and has a $500,000 bond.
An investigation into the incident and a possible motive is ongoing.
