Injured Lakewood woman rescued from Boulder hiking trail

A woman was rescued Sunday evening after suffering a knee injury while hiking in Boulder, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Officials said the 34-year-old woman from Lakewood was injured after jumping from one rock to another while descending the Royal Arch Trail with two other hikers.

Rangers from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks arrived just before 6 p.m.

In a 3 1/2-hour rescue, officials provided first aid, carried the woman to the Enchanted Mesa/Mesa Trail intersection, drove her to the Chautauqua Auditorium and gave her to her friend, who took her to a hospital.

Agencies that assisted with the rescue effort included the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
