Restaurant relief program opens in Aurora

In an attempt to continue providing relief to restaurants impacted by COVID-19, the city of Aurora opened a restaurant relief program on Monday.

The $1 million program aims to provide assistance to Aurora’s restaurant owners that have experienced financial hardship, and have had business operations disrupted as a result of restrictions on indoor dining.

Each business that applies could receive up to $10,000 to help pay rent and other payroll expenses from the Aurora Restaurant Relief Grant Program.

Eligible businesses are restaurants, bars, breweries, wineries, distilleries, caterers and hotels with restaurants. Businesses must be based in Aurora and must have opened before May 1, 2020.

Businesses that previously received funds through the three initial rounds of Aurora’s Economic Resiliency Program are not eligible for the new program, according to a media release.

Since April, Aurora has distributed more than $11 million to local businesses impacted by the economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
