Charges filed against two suspects in deadly Denver home invasion
The Denver District Attorney’s Office announced charges Thursday against Joshua Hamm and Tameka Dudley for the murder and robbery of 64-year-old Mark Outman in his Denver home last month.
Hamm, 38, and Dudley, 44, are each being separately charged with the murder of Outman and the attempted murder of Outman’s adult family member, who survived being shot in the head.
They each are being charged with first-degree murder, criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of first-degree burglary.
The third suspect in the fatal home invasion, 47-year-old Larry Hamm, was shot and killed by a Denver police officer on the day of the invasion while fleeing the scene.
District Attorney Beth McCann will decide whether that officer shooting was legally justified at a later date.
On the morning of Dec. 28, Denver police responded to Outman’s home in the 900 block of North Monaco Parkway after receiving a 911 call from his neighborhood who said Outman was being attacked.
Outman’s family member also called 911 saying she had been shot during a home robbery, according to the affidavit.
When officers arrived, they saw Joshua and Larry Hamm run from the house and Dudley drive away in a car. Officers quickly apprehended Joshua Hamm but Larry Hamm, holding a handgun, ran into a nearby intersection.
Larry Hamm was shot by an officer after several attempts to carjack passersby and eventually getting into the car with a female driver.
Dudley was arrested days later on Dec. 31 after she was seen driving the stolen vehicle that has been identified during the home invasion.
One day before she was apprehended, Dudley was caught trying to deposit a check from a checkbook stolen during a previous home robbery at an Aurora bank, according to the affidavit.
She left the bank without her ID or the checkbook to avoid the police.
According to the affidavit, the three suspects were also connected to three different home robberies on Dec. 24 and Dec. 27 in which they stole, in part, multiple firearms and a vehicle that were used during the Dec. 28 robbery.
During the Dec. 28 fatal home invasion, Dudley and Larry Hamm wore orange hard hats and yellow safety vests, posing as utility workers. This tactic was also used in at least one of the prior robberies, according to the affidavit.
