Injured skier rescued in Boulder County

A 29-year-old man was rescued after injuring his leg while backcountry skiing Sunday morning in unincorporated Boulder County.

Authorities were dispatched near Anchor Mine above County Road 129J just west of Nederland at 10:30 a.m., after learning a skier had fallen and was unable to walk, said officials from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in a press release Sunday.

Members from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group (RMRG) reached the victim and his reporting party and provided first-aid that included splinting the injured knee.

The victim was transported to a nearby medical facility by family members in a private vehicle, officials said.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by American Medical Response, Nederland Fire Protection District and RMRG.
