Douglas County seeks artists for outdoor sculpture exhibit

Applications are open for Douglas County’s annual Art Encounters public art program, a yearlong outdoor sculpture exhibit.

The program, founded in 2007, aims to promote public interest in art, heighten community pride and attract visitors. Selected sculptures are viewed by thousands in Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Parker and Roxborough.

Artists from throughout the region are eligible to submit work for the program.

Chosen sculptors receive an $800 stipend and are entered for consideration for up to $2,000 in additional prizes. Numerous sculptures in the program have also been purchased or donated.

Applications are due on Feb. 19 at artcall.org. Selected sculptures will be on display from May 2021 to May 2022.

Full submission requirements are available at artencounters.douglas.co.us.
