Pedestrian dies after being struck by truck in Fort Collins
A man is dead after being struck by a truck in Fort Collins Friday night.
Officers from the Fort Collins Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of South College Avenue and East Prospect Road after a report of an adult male was struck by a truck at 7:40 p.m. Friday, according to a press release.
The man was transported to a nearby medical facility where he was later pronounced dead.
Upon an initial investigation that closed College Avenue for four hours Friday night, officers learned that a 2013 Dodge 2500 pick up truck was driving north on College Avenue when the victim ran across the street and was struck.
Investigators say the truck had a green light and at the time of the incident the victim was not in the crosswalk.
Police currently don’t suspect speed or alcohol to have played a factor in the crash.
Anyone with information regarding the crash who have not already spoken with law enforcement are encouraged to contact the police department at 970-416-2224.
Information about the victim will be released at a later date by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.
An investigation is ongoing.
