DMV officials warn of ‘significant delays’ in titling or registration activities due to COVID-19

Do you need to get a new license plate or register a new vehicle? Well officials from the state’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) are warning of “significant” delays because of COVID-19.

Officials said Wednesday that vehicle titling, manufacturing of license plates and registration products and other registration activities can be impacted at the state or county level.

DMV officials in a news release did not specify the length of potential delays.

Because of the delays, each county clerk and recorders’ office will provide a letter that motorists can show law enforcement in the event they’re pulled over for expired license plates and tabs.

Many DMV locations have reopened since the initial shutdown in March, but officials are reminding Coloradans that many services such as acquiring a new license and ID card renewals, vehicle registration renewals and motor vehicle records are available online at myDMV.Colorado.gov.
