House explosion in Firestone was accidental, officials say

The Frederick-Firestone Fire District said Friday that an accidental fire caused an explosion at a Firestone home Thursday that sent one male to the hospital.
Despite investigators determining the cause to be accidental in nature, the source remains unknown at this time, officials said.
Previously, FFFD and the Firestone Police Department said that there were no indications the explosion was caused by oil or gas.
Multiple law enforcement agencies rushed Thursday afternoon to the explosion in Firestone.
FFFD, FPD, Weld County Drug Task Force and Platteville-Gilcrest Fire District responded to a report of of a house explosion at 9744 Roadrunner Ave. in the Stoneridge neighborhood at 2:38 p.m. When they arrived, fire crews saw smoke and began searching for fires, officials said in the release.
One person was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette with injuries, but was later transferred to the University Burn Center, FFFD officials said Friday.
Fire crews rescued one pet from inside the home, officials said.
In a Facebook post by the FFFD, they said the incident was stabilized at 3:12 p.m.
