The Boulder Valley School District has completed the multi-year redesign of its administrative campus, promoting inclusivity, interaction and growth for the district.
BVSD, which serves 31,000 students, used the global design firm Stantec for the project.
“We designed this campus to facilitate collaboration, transparency and adaptability in alignment with BVSD’s mission to cultivate learning opportunities for all students,” said Carl Hole, Stantec’s Denver project manager.
Public schools enrollment decreased 3.3% in 2020-21 school year
The redesign centered on creating a new transportation center and central kitchen and expanding and renovating the existing administrative building.
The new 28,000-square-foot transportation center is a mile from the campus, including bus parking, employee parking, electric charging stations, repair bays, wash stations, storage and numerous office spaces.
The central kitchen, which will provide 14,000 to 17,000 lunches every day, is a professional kitchen with food storage that will also host educational opportunities for BVSD students.
The administration building now includes a separate warehouse, new two-story building and revamped welcoming entry, in addition to a central break room, smaller huddle areas and numerous conference rooms in the original building.
The project, funded by BVSD’s remaining money from its 2014 bond issue, expects to lower ongoing operating costs for the campus.
“This is a project that truly belongs to the school district and one aimed at supporting all levels of the organization,” Hole said. “We’re proud to help deliver it, and it’s exciting to see it come to life.”
