Two suspects eluded deputies in Boulder County, ram deputies vehicle
Two suspects spotted inside a stolen vehicle Friday eluded Boulder County Sheriff’s deputies after ramming a patrol unit and avoiding multiple stop tactics, officials said.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) received a tip about a vehicle parked in a no parking zone in the 900 block of Lake Shore Drive in unincorporated Boulder County shortly after noon, deputies said in a media release.
Deputies successfully located the vehicle and observed two passengers — one male and one female — inside. They also realized that the vehicle matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen in Longmont.
Based on information from other law enforcement agencies, deputies learned that the occupants had successfully eluded police before and could have multiple outstanding arrest warrants.
Due to these circumstances, the deputies called for back-up.
Before deputies could make contact with the vehicle, it drove towards Boulder, where deputies made multiple attempts to stop the vehicle by using stop sticks and by attempting to block it, officials said.
While deputies were attempting to block in the vehicle, the suspects rammed the stolen vehicle into a sheriff’s patrol unit and caused moderate damage. The deputy was uninjured, officials said.
Officials from the sheriff’s department placed stop sticks around Boulder and successfully stopped the vehicle, but the suspects ran away near Table Mesa Drive and South Loop Drive.
Authorities created a perimeter and began a search with assistance from the Boulder Police Department, University of Colorado Boulder Police Department and Broomfield Police Department’s K-9 unit, but could not locate the two suspects.
Anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts are encouraged to contact the BCSO dispatch at 303-441-4444
