Search for missing Arvada man will continue after another unsuccessful day

Josh Hall, Arvada missing hiker 2-6-2021

Authorities will resume the search for 27-year-old Josh Hall and his dog in Boulder County Sunday after another unsuccessful day Saturday.

Throughout the day Saturday, weather conditions made the search difficult crews with wind gusts of up to 40 mph throughout the day near Devil’s Thumb Trail and the Diamond Lake cut-off — where Hall’s phone was last pinged, said Carrie Haverfield, a spokesperson for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

“We’d love to be able to get some aerial or drone surveillance of the area because it’s so large, but because of the winds we’ve been grounded,” Haverfield said.

Crews on Saturday used skis, snowshoes and snowmobiles on the ground to try and locate Hall who was last seen Wednesday morning with his dog while heading out for a hike.

Hall was reported missing Wednesday evening.

Police say Hall was last seen wearing a green khaki jacket, dark hat and wearing a green and grey backpack. If anyone comes across any of these items or a dog leash, they are encouraged to contact authorities immediately at 303-441-4444.
