A man and woman are in custody Wednesday after a pursuit ended in Lafayette.
Arvada police officers were dispatched to the area of Ridge Road and Independence Street after receiving a notification of a stolen vehicle from OnStar, Dave Snelling, the public information officer for the Arvada Police Department said.
Officers successfully located the blue SUV, but when attempting to stop the vehicle, the male suspect rammed into a marked patrol unit and fled the scene.
Police, with the assistance of OnStar, were able to relocate the stolen vehicle, but upon their arrival saw a stolen blue pickup truck assisting the driver of the SUV, Snelling said.
A few minutes later, the stolen SUV left the area towards 78th Avenue and Kipling Street. Officers had OnStar turn the vehicle off, allowing them to take the male driver into custody, Snelling said.
During this time the pickup truck fled and struck an unmarked Arvada police unit while traveling north along Indiana Street to West 120th Avenue.
The woman driver turned north on Wadsworth Parkway in Broomfield and led police north on Highway 287. During the pursuit the pickup went off the east side of the roadway in the 2300 block of Highway 287 and collided with a fence associated to The Learning Experience, Academy of Early Education.
Authorities took the woman into custody following the crash.
Following the pursuits, one officer was evaluated for injuries of unknown severity, Snelling said.
Police seized two guns during their search of the vehicles and believe drugs were involved.
Information about the suspects was not immediately released.
