Texas woman rescued at Rocky Mountain National Park

RMNP fall 2-10-2021

A 21-year-old Texas woman suffered serious injuries after falling at least 70 feet on Tuesday at Rocky Mountain National Park.

Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue Team located the woman near Emerald Lake. She fell down a snow-covered slope 70 to 100 feet, according to a Wednesday new release from the national park.

Rescuers located the woman in a talus slope on the south side of Emerald Lake and provided advanced medical care, park officials said.

Officials used a rescue toboggan to transport the patient from the scene to the Bear Lake Trailhead, where she was transported to Estes Park Health and then transferred to a nearby trauma center, the release stated.

The status of the victim was unknown Wednesday night.
