Boulder sunrise

After some of the coldest days this season, Denver temperatures will approach the 40s on Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Boulder said.

Tuesday will start mostly sunny until a 20% chance of snow showers appears around 2 p.m., the agency said.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 39 degrees with winds around 15 mph, according to the weather service.

Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to a low of 14 degrees with mostly cloudy skies and light winds, the agency said. Another chance of snow shows up before 11 p.m. Chances of snow are 30%.

Expectations of snow continue Wednesday with 1 to 2 inches possible overnight. Thursday will be mostly sunny and cold with temperatures reaching a high of 33 degrees, the weather service predicts.

“Overall, temperatures continue to rebound throughout the week, after a slight drop Wednesday and Thursday,” Denver Gazette news partner 9News reported. “Highs max out in the low 30s both days, before jumping into the mid to upper 40s Friday, even possibly hitting the low 50s over the weekend.”

Here’s the rest of this week’s forecast from the National Weather Service:

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33 degrees and winds around 5 mph. Snow likely, mainly after 4 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33 degrees and winds around 6 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45 degrees.
