Remains of missing South Fork woman identified

The human remains located at a crash site near Wolf Creek Pass last week belong to a South Fork woman reported missing last month.
An autopsy report performed by the Mineral County Coroner’s Office identified Marlena Rena Mizell, 49, and stated she died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries.

Mizell’s body was located last week when multiple law enforcement agencies including the Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Bureau of Investigations and Mineral County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search and rescue operation near Wolf Creek Pass on Feb. 23, The Denver Gazette previously reported.
Her body was found approximately 150 feet away from a blue Ford Focus hatchback.
Mizell, who was reported missing on Jan. 3, was last seen leaving the Rainbow Motel in South Fork around noon the day before in the blue Ford Focus hatchback, officials said.
The CSP is conducing an investigation into the crash, but as of now, there do not appear to be any signs of foul play, CBI official said.
