A 55-year-old Loveland man pleaded guilty to making and possessing multiple pipe bombs Thursday in federal court.

Bradley Bunn pleaded guilty to one count of making destructive devices and four counts of possessing destructive devices, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado.

Each count carries a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release.

The charges stem from a search warrant executed by the FBI at Bunn’s home on May 1, where they located four explosive devices that “consisted of galvanized steel pipe with end caps and a fuse,” according to the release.

Agents also recovered additional bomb-making material including more steel pipes, end caps, primers, fuses and smokeless powder. Neither the pipe bombs nor materials were registered, a violation of federal law.

Bunn also had not complied with regulations concerning the making of destructive devices, according to the release.

“Thanks to the hard work of our law enforcement partners and prosecutors, we were able to find and remove these dangerous devices before the defendant could cause serious harm,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Matthew Kirsch.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Northern Colorado Bomb Squad and Larimer County Sherif’s Office.
