Hiker rescued after losing trail descending Mount Audubon

A man was rescued Sunday night after getting lost while descending from Mount Audubon, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials received a call just after 8 p.m. that a 27-year-old man from Erie lost the trail. The man was also able to call 911 to report his location.

Rescuers from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group used a tracked utility terrain vehicle to reach the Mitchell Lake Trailhead where they then accessed the hiker on foot.

The hiker was escorted out to the UTV and taken to the Brainard Lake winter parking lot, where he was released.

The rescue took about 4 ½ hours.
