Brighton man in custody for alleged role in dispute

A 25-year-old man is in custody after police say he sprayed pepper spray in a man’s face and fired several shots in his direction following a dispute at an intersection in Brighton on Sunday.
Officers from the Brighton Police Department apprehended Antonio Balderas on suspicion of several charges including first-degree assault.
Adams County authorities searching for van involved in weekend shooting
Law enforcement officials were dispatched to the area of U.S. Highway 85 and Bromley Lane on Sunday after receiving multiple calls about a shooting.
An initial investigation revealed that a 48-year-old Longmont man was asking for assistance near the intersection and got into an argument with Balderas.
Police said during the argument Balderas allegedly sprayed the man in the face with pepper spray and then fired several shots in his direction.

The victim was hit by the gunfire, but experienced a reaction from the pepper-spray, BPD officials said.
