Brian Campbell was arrested in connection to a shooting earlier this month that sent one victim to a hospital, the Aurora Police Department announced.
Campbell, 32, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Police said the shooting happened on March 5 at 2 p.m. in the 15800 block of East Alameda Avenue.
Several bystanders called 911 to report gunshots and when officers arrived, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound in a leg.
The victim was taken to a hospital and survived his injuries.
Police said the victim and the shooter knew each other and had gotten into a disagreement before the shooting.
Campbell was arrested in Aurora during a traffic stop Thursday about 6:30 p.m. Police said he was arrested by officers from the Gang Intervention Unit.
Police have not confirmed whether or not the shooting was gang-related. At the time of the shooting, police said it was an isolated incident.
According to public records, Campbell has not been charged with any violent crimes before. His previous offenses are limited to a series of traffic infringements from 2008.
The investigation is ongoing.
