RTD bus, rail services up and running after snow-induced closures
RTD resumed regular bus and light rail services Tuesday after a series of closures because of dangerous road conditions during the weekend snowstorm.
Denver was hit with more than 27 inches of snow Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. This led to low visibility, snowpack and icy conditions on roads throughout the metro area.
Because of these conditions, RTD suspended all bus and rail services at 7 p.m. Sunday.

While most rails reopened Monday, all buses remained out of service for the day. Rail services continued with delays, except for the R Line, which was closed because excessive snow on portions of the track.
“The RTD team has worked tirelessly to prepare for and deliver service through the record snowstorm we all experienced over the weekend,” said RTD CEO Debra Johnson.
While all bus and rail services are running Tuesday, RTD advises riders to anticipate delays and check RTD channels for updates on service operations.
Johnson said some roads are still not cleared of snow, forcing buses to make detours and extending travel time. More snow is also predicted to come Tuesday afternoon that could affect service.

Access-a-Ride paratransit and FlexRide service are also scheduled to operate as usual Tuesday.
RTD suggests riders be extremely cautious while boarding and deboarding vehicles because many sidewalks are not cleared in Denver, leaving large amounts of snow near bus stops.
Riders should also continue to practice social distancing and wear masks on buses and rails.
“We appreciate the public’s patience, as well as the dedicated men and women who constitute RTD’s workforce as they continue to work hard to provide service while balancing a high level of safety and care,” Johnson said.
