Phil Horvath named new president of Floyd’s 99 Barbershops

Floyd’s 99 Barbershop has had a lot of success since opening its first shop in Denver in 1999 and expanding to nearly every corner of the United States. The success isn’t expected to slow down anytime soon as the company named Phil Horvath as its new president on Friday.

Horvath joins Floyd’s with over 25 years of experience. He’s worked in executive leadership roles for Ulta Beauty’s retail and salon operations for 17 years. Most recently, Horvath served as the president and COO of Hair Cuttery, the largest private salon chain in the United States, Floyd’s officials said.

Additionally, the Stanford University graduate serves as a board member of Chatters SalonGroup in Canada and the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation.

“As we navigate the post COVID-19 world, we will look to Phil to cement the brand into a premium category in the modern (barbershop space) and provide the leadership we need to continue to amplify the training, expertise and vibe of our brand that has expanded into new markets,” said Bill O’Brien, a co-founder of Floyd’s.

Since opening their original family-run location in Denver, Floyd’s has opened nearly 120 locations in 13 different states. Horvath will be tasked with strengthening the company’s current operations, technology and culture to continue the brand’s successful expansion.

“I believe that we have the potential to become an iconic brand that creates inspiring careers for our people, provides a best in-class client experience and holds a meaningful position as part of our local communities,” Horvath said.

Horvath began working in the industry at his family’s salon chain and through that experience, grew an unmeasurable love and passion for the industry. O’Brien said his connection to a family-run shop like Floyd’s is what made him an ideal candidate for the position.

“As a company founded by brothers, Phil’s start in the industry at his own family’s salon couldn’t fit better,” O’Brien said.
