An investigation is underway in Adams County after officials said a person was kidnapped and robbed while trying to sell a pair of shoes on Tuesday.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of kidnapping and home invasion in the 5000 block of 112th Court in Thornton.
During an initial investigation, officials learned the victim met two men in the 5500 block of Federal Boulevard to sell a pair of athletic shoes.
During the transaction, one of the potential buyers displayed a knife, took the shoes and other valuables, while forcing the victim into their vehicle.
The alleged kidnappers then forced the victim to drive to an ATM, but the victim refused to withdraw money for them, according to the release.
In response, the men drove the suspect’s vehicle to the victim’s home and stole additional valuables from inside before fleeing in the victims vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities later recovered the stolen vehicle in the 5500 block of Federal Boulevard.
