16-year-old killed in head-on crash with semitruck near Longmont

A 16-year-old boy was killed Wednesday night after he was involved in a head-on collision with a semitruck near Longmont, the Colorado State Patrol said.
Officials said the crash happened about 7:30 p.m. on Highway 66 near Pace Street, just east of Longmont.
The boy was driving a sedan during the collision. The semitruck, carrying produce, was driven by a 60-year-old woman. It is unknown if the truck driver suffered any injuries.

After the collision, the boy was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
CSP is investigating what led to the crash. No charges have been filed and it is unclear which driver was at fault.
Highway 66 was shut down for several hours between Pace Street and East County Line Road while officials investigated. It reopened Wednesday morning.
