A pedestrian is dead following a crash Thursday on Interstate 25 in Thornton.

Police said the accident occurred near 84th Avenue and I-25 in southwest Thornton. The incident was initially reported by the Thornton Police Department at 6:14 p.m. Thursday on Twitter.

Just over two hours after the crash was first reported, authorities reported the pedestrian died.

I-25 north and southbound lanes at 84th Avenue were closed for several hours and an initial investigation was conducted.

Information on what led to the crash or whether possible charges will be filed is unknown as attempts to reach the Thornton Police Department have been unsuccessful.
