There’s no doubt about it – the pandemic has shifted many people to working from home and there’s a good chance that trend is here to stay. Lucky for Coloradans, the Centennial State is one of the best places to be clocking in from a home office.

A recent analysis by WalletHub ranked Colorado as the 12th best ‘work-from-home’ state in the country, while also scoring Colorado the highest in work-from-home ‘work environment’ factors nationwide. This score included criteria like cybersecurity, internet accessibility, share of potential telecommuters, and share of people working from home.

Among all states, plus DC, the analysis revealed that Colorado had the highest share of people working from home at 8.3 percent of the workforce. This contrasts with the lowest share among the states at 2.4 percent in Mississippi.

Colorado’s overall ranking was brought down by a 47th place rank in the ‘living environment’ category. This included criteria such as cost of internet, average square footage, and share of homes for sale with favorable features.

Though not addressed in this analysis, another huge benefit of working from home in Colorado is the accessibility to outdoor recreation. By cutting out commute time during the day, Coloradans have more time to get to the trailhead outside of work hours – something that many have found to be a major perk of the ‘work-from-home’ switch.

Delaware was ranked as the best ‘work-from-home’ state in the country and Alaska was ranked as the worst.
