Thornton police investigating two armed robberies committed on Tuesday

An investigation is underway by the Thornton Police Department after a man was suspected of committing an armed robbery at a Baskin Robbins and Denny’s on Tuesday.
Hostage situation at Thornton motel resolved peacefully
Officers were dispatched to a Baskin Robbins at 3944 E. 120th Avenue in Thornton at 9:44 p.m. after a report of an armed robbery.
Witnesses told authorities that a man entered the store while the three employees were cleaning and jumped the counter and pointed a handgun at them, according to a Metro Denver Crime Stoppers bulletin.

The robber then shoved the employees to the front of the store and demanded the money from the cash register. He then fled the scene as a passenger in a gold colored sedan, possibly a Honda Civic or Toyota Camry.
Later that evening, officers were dispatched to a Denny’s at 350 E. 104th Ave — four miles southwest of the Baskin Robbins — in Thornton after a report of a robbery.
Deputies investigate armed robbery of Adams County convenience store
Upon their arrival, officers learned a man ran into the store with a black handgun, grabbed a female employee and pulled her to the cash register and demanded money, according to the release.
After receiving the money, the man fled in the a gold sedan that was headed southbound.
Police said the man in both robberies was described as 5 feet 3 and was last seen wearing a black hoodie with red lettering and “playboy” on the back, black sweatpants, orange or red gloves, a black ski mask and black shoes.
