2020 was a year that brought hardship to many people around the world.

Whether it was adjusting to staying at home, transitioning to online learning or not having a senior prom, the number of abnormalities is endless. However, despite the disarray, the City of Lakewood is now accepting nominations for its 2021 Mayor’s Inspiration Award. 

The annual award highlights members of the Lakewood community who have inspired community members through engagement, collaboration, inclusiveness, diversity, innovation and community impact.

Nominations can be submitted online at Lakewood.org/MayorsAward and will be accepted thought July 15. 

People can be nominated in four separate categories:

• Youth: People under 18
• Individual: People older than 18
• Organization: Any business, association, service organization, nonprofit, team or a group
• In Memoriam: Any individual who made an impact during his or her time in Lakewood

Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul and City Council will review all nominations in August and will announce the winners during the City Council meeting on Sept. 27.
