Man arrested in Arvada for threatening to kill 94-year-old woman, fighting her grandson
A man with an extensive criminal history is in custody after threatening to kill a 94-year-old woman and assaulting her grandson in Arvada on Monday.
Anthony P. Niccoli, 30, is currently being held charges of menacing and third-degree assault, according to online court records.
Since 2015, Niccoli has been accused on seven assault charges. He pled guilty to one, two have been dismissed as part of plea agreements and four are outstanding, according to online court records.
Arvada police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a Sherwin Williams store in the 5200 block of Wadsworth Bypass shortly after 9 a.m. Monday.
According to an arrest affidavit acquired by The Denver Gazette, the caller informed the dispatcher that a man with long hair was involved in a physical altercation and was trying to force his way into the locked business.
Officers arrived on-scene and found Niccoli, who had bloody knuckles and began threatening officers upon their arrival, according to the affidavit.
During an inital investigation, officers spoke with the manager of the Sherwin Williams who said Niccoli and a customer — who was with his 94-year-old grandmother — got into a fight outside of the store.
The man and his grandmother began screaming for help and the manger let them into the store before locking the door, according to the affidavit.
The victim told officers he and his grandmother were sitting in their car parked in front of the store when Niccoli allegedly tried to enter the vehicle through the front passenger door.
Niccoli allegedly continued trying to gain entrance into the vehicle and started yelling he was going to kill the grandmother and driver, according to the affidavit.
The victim exited the vehicle and told Niccoli to get away from his vehicle, which allegedly caused Niccoli to start a fight.
During the fight the victim received blows to the cheek and eye, and told officers he also hit Niccoli.
Following several interviews with nearby witnesses and the victims, officers arrested Niccoli. He is currently being held in the Jefferson County Detention Center and has a court appearance scheduled for April 21.
