Bridge construction to close West Sixth Avenue in Denver this week
The West Sixth Avenue freeway in Denver is scheduled to close Monday and Tuesday while construction crews work on a pedestrian bridge near Federal Boulevard.
On Monday, all eastbound lanes of West Sixth Avenue between Sheridan and Federal boulevards will close beginning at 8 p.m. The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the next day. Westbound lanes will remain open.
Those driving east should exit at Sheridan Boulevard and use Colfax or Alameda avenues to travel east to Federal Boulevard to get back on the freeway.

During these closures, Kraemer Construction crews will work to improve the pedestrian bridge’s bearing system to extend its life.
The pedestrian bridge, connecting the Villa Park and Barnum neighborhoods, was built by the city about five years ago in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Transportation’s U.S. 6 Bridges project.
The construction work is weather dependent and subject to change.
