The Northglenn Police Department is investigating after a 25-year-old man was fatally shot outside of his apartment Wednesday night.
Police said the shooting happened about 8:50 p.m. at the Haven 124 apartment complex at 12255 Claude Court. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses told police that the victim had been talking to the suspect outside of his apartment when the suspect shot him multiple times, officials said.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity will be released by the Office of the Medical Examiner after his family has been notified.
Police said they believe the victim knew the person who shot him.
Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.
On Thursday morning, police with assistance from the Westminster Police Department took a suspect into custody near West 123rd Avenue and Huron Street.
The suspect’s name, age and gender weren’t released, but they were taken into custody without incident, Westminster police said.
Mountain Range High School and Silver Hills Middle School were placed on secure lockout as a precaution, police said.
