Lightning strike likely causes oil tanker fire near Brighton
A lighting struck likely caused a fire at an oil tank facility near Brighton on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Brighton Fire Rescue crews responded to a report of a fire near Weld County Roads 27 and 4 about 12:45 p.m., said a spokesperson for the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

No injuries have been reported and the oil tanks are empty, fire officials said in a tweet at 1:48 p.m.
Crews used tenders to transfer water to the blaze to extinguish the flames.
As a result of the fire, Weld County Road 27 was closed and officials asked drivers to use alternative routes. The road will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time.
The South Adams County Fire Department was brought in to use foam to help put out the fire.
