Poudre Fire Authority

The Fort Collins Police Department evacuated residents in the southern part of the city Thursday after a report of a suspicious backpack.

Police said the evacuation was “out of precaution” and was in effect at Bluestem Court, just north of Meadow Drive up to Oakridge Drive.

Officials announced just after 11 a.m. that they were investigating a suspicious backpack that was found in the area of East Boardwalk and Oakridge Drives.

The Northern Colorado Bomb Squad responded to the call.

The evacuation order was lifted just after 1:30 p.m.
