Fugitive arrested in Adams County with guns, meth, 20 catalytic converters

A man with six active warrants was arrested in Adams County after he was found unconscious in a car with guns, methamphetamine and 20 catalytic converters, among other stolen items.

The man, identified as 28-year-old Ulices Venzor, was taken into custody Sunday morning, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

An Adams County deputy noticed the stopped car blocking traffic just after 10 a.m. near the intersection of West 84th Avenue and Pecos Street.

When he approached the car, the deputy saw that a man was passed out in the driver’s seat with drug paraphernalia in plain view. Additional deputies responded and blocked in the car, which was still in drive.

Officials warn of increasing catalytic converter thefts in Weld County

When the driver woke up, he tried to leave by backing into the patrol vehicles several times but eventually gave up and was taken into custody without further incident, deputies said.

Inside the car, deputies found two handguns, an unknown amount of meth, 20 catalytic converters valued at $1,500 each, around 50 credit cards and several silver coins that are suspected to have been taken during a burglary.

The car itself was also found to have been stolen out of Dillon, deputies said.

In addition to his existing warrants, the District Attorney’s Office will determine the final charges against Venzor for Sunday’s incident.
