Jefferson County man arrested for allegedly strangling wife

Nathan Gustafson was arrested Sunday for allegedly strangling his wife last month, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Gustafson is facing numerous charges, including second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault.

Deputies said they believe Gustafson assaulted and strangled his wife during a domestic violence incident in their home in Conifer on April 19.

Jefferson County deputies seek info on whereabouts of man who allegedly nearly killed his wife by strangulation

The victim almost died from the strangulation, suffering petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes, throat and ears, deputies said.

After the attack, Gustafson left the country for a planned vacation before a warrant was issued. He did not return when he was scheduled to, promoting a nationwide manhunt.

Officials have not released how or where Gustafson was found.
