Roadwork on Peña Boulevard near DIA canceled because of weather

Tuesday night’s planed roadwork on Peña Boulevard inbound to Denver International Airport has been canceled because of predictions of snowfall in the area. However, Saturday’s roadwork will continue as planned.

On Saturday, a small section of inbound Peña Boulevard will close from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., starting at Jackson Gap Road. During the closure, crews will work to install large overhead signage.

All airport traffic will be detoured to the east terminal, with drivers being directed via posted signs. Drivers should follow signs for departures and arrivals at the east terminal. Buses will pick up and drop off on Level 6 East near Door 609.

During the closure, passengers will also not be able to access economy parking. Anyone parking at the airport should follow signs for east garage parking. Vehicles will still be charged the economy parking rates.

Overnight closures on Peña Boulevard begin Saturday

People going to the airport should give themselves additional travel time and plan for delays of up to one hour. People flying out of DIA on Saturday evening are encouraged to take the RTD A Line to avoid traffic impacts.

This work is part of the Peña Improvement Project, improving the safety of Peña Boulevard by relocating the return-to-terminal route to Jackson Gap Road and adding two more lanes on inbound Peña Boulevard between Jackson Gap Road and the terminal.

Aging and failing infrastructure, including pavement that has been in place for more than 25 years, will also be replaced during the project.
