Man found guilty of sexual assault on child

Ronald Gregory Wyman was convicted by a Jefferson County jury of sexual assault charges against a child for an incident in 2020, the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office said.

Wyman, 62, was convicted of sexual assault on a child – victim less than 15, a Class 4 felony on Wednesday, according to a news release.

Members of the Arvada Police Department were dispatched to an ARC Thrift store at 9661 W. 58th Ave. on Jan. 12, 2020, after a “frantic” mother reported her daughter had been sexually assaulted in the store.

Before officers arrived, the mother chased Wyman outside the store and physically prevented him from driving away, according to the release.

The victim told officers that she was browsing through merchandise when Wyman walked by her and grabbed her buttocks with “his full hand.” She added that before the incident, he had been eying and circling around her.

Police located surveillance footage that confirmed the victim’s accusations, according to the release.

Prosecutors learned while filing the initial charges that Wyman has an elaborate criminal history, including previous sexual offenses against children.

As a result, they added three habitual criminal charges for felonies committed in Denver and California such as indecent exposure, attempted kidnapping and second-degree murder.

Wyman’s habitual phase is scheduled for June 7 before sentencing on July 1.
