Serial rapist found guilty on slew of crimes
Serial rapist Tre Miekale Carrasco, 26, was found guilty by a jury in the 18th Judicial District Court Thursday following a five-day trial.
Carrasco, who preyed upon at least 11 women in Aurora and Cherry Creek, was found guilty of a slew of charges after a five-day trial including sexual assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon, attempt to influence a public servant, two counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft, two counts of criminal trespass, false reporting and driving a motor vehicle without a license, according to a release from the court.
“This is a dangerous predator who should be incarcerated to keep him off the streets and keep our community safe,” said 18th Judicial District Attorney John Kellner in a release. “I am grateful to this jury for their work, as these verdicts will help us keep this serial rapist behind bars.”
Prior to being convicted in Arapahoe County, Carrasco was found guilty of similar charges in Kansas. He continued to commit crimes throughout Kansas and then relocated to Colorado and continued his spree, Kellner said.
On Feb. 7, 2019, Carrasco attempted to kidnap a woman from a parking lot of a fitness center in Aurora, but after she got away, he stole her vehicle, according to a release.
Several days later, Carrasco drove the stolen vehicle to a residence in Cherry Hills Village where he raped a woman at knifepoint. He was arrested five hours later in the same stolen vehicle.
Carrasco is scheduled to be sentenced on July 8 and is facing an undetermined amount of time due to the slew of charges. However, the presumptive range for a Class 2 Felony is 8 to 24 years in prison, said Vikki Migoya, a spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District Court.
