Denver police make second arrest in connection to 9-month-old’s death
The mother of a 9-month-old infant who died in August was arrested Wednesday night and held on the suspicion of child abuse resulting in death.
The arrest of Jolene Beyer-LaCrue, 19, comes nearly 10 days following the arrest of Cain Gallaro, 21, who investigators learned was Beyer-LaCrue’s boyfriend, The Denver Gazette previously reported.
Gallardo has been charged with first-degree murder since his arrest, according to online court records.
Police began investigating the death of Beyer-LaCrue’s daughter, Gianna Rosales, after she was taken to the hospital on Aug. 3, 2020 and succumbed to her injuries the following day.
An autopsy performed by Denver Office of the Medical Examiner determined Rosales’ cause of death was due to blunt force injuries.
Since the investigation began, officials have determined how Rosales sustained the trauma, which resulted in both arrests of Gallardo and Beyer-LaCrue, according to a release from the Denver Police Department.
Specific information regarding the incident is unknown as both probable cause affidavits are sealed to the public.
