Greeley: Police investigating shooting that injured two people
An investigation is underway by the Greeley Police Department after three people were shot at outside a Greeley apartment complex.
Officers were dispatched to the complex at 37th Avenue and 24th Street, just south of Greeley West High School, after reports of a shooting.
Two victims were located on-scene who suffered non-life threatening wounds and were transported to a nearby hospital. Additionally, officials located 12 shell casings and several bullets were found inside the walls and around the scene, GPD officials said in a news release.
Investigators learned that three individuals — with no known gang affiliation — exited the complex to meet someone. Suddenly, a pickup trick arrived and multiple people exited and began asking the victims if they wanted to fight, and if they were in a gang.
According to a witness, the victims went back to their apartment on foot with one person chasing them and began firing a handgun.
One of the victims was hit three times by the bullets and the other just once. One of the victims will have surgery due to the injuries, but police did not say which victim.
Police have described the suspected vehicle as an older, mid-sized gray pick up with a camper shell and victim as a male who was last seen wearing a blue hoodie with white on it, according to the release.
Police said there is no on-going threat to the community.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact GPD Detective Sanchez at 970-350-9605.
