Police search for 2 men involved in assault of woman in Fort Collins
The Fort Collins Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two men believed to be involved in the assault of a woman earlier this month.
The assault happened about 1:20 a.m. on May 2, east of the intersection of East Oak Street and South College Avenue near Oak Street Plaza Park.
Police said the woman was assaulted after a verbal altercation between two groups of people.
Police released security footage Thursday of two men who were a part of the group that assaulted the woman. Police said the men might have information about what occurred.
“While the video quality isn’t extremely clear, we’re hoping someone will recognize the men,” said Assistant Chief John Feyen. “We appreciate any leads that will help us find answers for the young woman who was injured.”
The woman suffered serious injuries during the assault and was subsequently hospitalized. She has since been released.
Police believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the assault.
Anyone who recognizes the men or has additional information is asked to call Cpl. Mindy Nace at 970-416-2647. Tipsters can be anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868 or stopcriminals.org.
