Man arrested after allegedly stealing Humvee from military base in Golden
A 34-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly stealing a Humvee from the National Guard Armory at Camp George West in Golden Friday night.
Adam Mabe is currently being held on suspicion of first-degree aggravated motor theft, second-degree criminal trespass, vehicular eluding, criminal mischief, reckless driving, DUI or DUID and driving under restraint, according to online court records.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified that a man allegedly stole a military vehicle and drove through the fence while leaving at 7:30 p.m.
The man, later identified as Mabe, allegedly drove the vehicle onto Colorado Highway 470 and eventually crashed on U.S. Highway 285, JCSO officials said.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
Mabe is currently being held in the Jefferson County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday, according to online court records.
