Denver firefighter arrested for alleged possession, distribution of child pornography

A Denver firefighter was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of sexually exploiting a child in relation to the possession and distribution of child pornography, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said investigators believe Eric Trujillo, 39, uploaded videos to the internet showing children being sexually assaulted. Investigators believe Trujillo might have uploaded the videos while on duty at the firehouse.

Trujillo has worked for the Denver Fire Department for 10 years. A spokesman for the department said Trujillo has been placed on unpaid leave while the department investigates the claims internally.

The sheriff’s office looked into Trujillo after receiving an online tip pointing to him from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Deputies said they executed search warrants on Trujillo’s workplace and Highlands Ranch home.

Trujillo was taken into custody at Denver Fire Station 36, where he works, about 9 a.m. Wednesday. He has since been booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility.

No mug shot is available as Trujillo has not yet been processed, deputies said.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
