Three injured rescued in separate incidents in Boulder County
Three injured people were rescued in separate incidents by first responders in Boulder County on Friday, police said.
The first incident occurred at 6:40 a.m. after the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a mountain biker falling and sustaining serious injuries on the Canyon Loop Trail at the Betasso Preserve Open Space, according to a release.
Members of the Sugarloaf Fire Protection District Team arrived on-scene and located the injured suspect and administered first-aid.
Minutes later, an American Medical Response team along with Rocky Mountain Rescue Group arrived and assisted in medical care and the 60-year-old man to an ambulance.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with severe head, chest and hand injuries.
Several hours later, officials received a report about two hikers being injured in separate incidents on the Ethel Hearld Trail and Green Mountain West Ridge Trails, according to a news release.
The caller informed dispatch that a 35-year-old woman had broken her leg near the creek. Rescuers located the woman within 20 minutes of the initial call.
Crews carried the woman out and was transported to a local hospital.
The last incident was reported at 1:20 p.m. after a 34-year-old Northglenn woman sustained an ankle injury after stumbling on a rock, according to a release.
Crews embarked onto the Green Mountain West Ridge Trail and located her about one and one-half miles from Flagstaff road. Her ankle was splinted and she was carried to the trailhead where she was reunited with her family who brought her to a hospital, according to the release.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by AMR, Boulder County Open Space, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Mountain Valley Fire/Rescue and Rocky Mountain Rescue group in the separate incidents.
