An investigation is underway by the Thornton Police Department following a shooting at a motel Saturday afternoon.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a Motel 6 at 6 W. 83rd Place, just west of Interstate 25 at 12:44 p.m.

Upon their arrival, they located a man who suffered injuries as a result of a shooting, said Joe Walker, a spokesperson for the police department.

The man was transported to a local hospital and his current status is unknown, Walker said.

Investigators are currently working to gather information about a possible suspect, but say there is no threat to the public.
