Suspect injured in officer-involved shooting during standoff in Greeley

A man was injured after being shot by Greeley police after he pointed a gun at officers during a standoff on Monday night, the 19th Judicial Critical Response Team said.

Police responded to the Stoneybrook trailer park in the 400 block of North 35th Avenue about 7:45 p.m. on a report of a disturbance and possible burglary.

When officers arrived, they found a 57-year-old man who was uncooperative with officers and barricaded himself inside his trailer, officials said.

At 8:25 p.m., the man stepped out of the trailer with a weapon and pointed it at officers, officials said. An officer then fired one shot and the man went back inside.

Several attempts to contact the man were made. The man told dispatch he would “shoot it out with officers if they did not leave his property,” police said.

At 9:15 p.m., the man appeared at his front door with a weapon and pointed it at officers, police said.

The man was then shot by officers and taken to the Northern Colorado Medical Center for treatment, police said. His condition was unknown as of Tuesday morning.

The 19th Judicial CIRT is investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office at 970-400-2822.
