The Fort Collins Police Department reported the crash happened at around 9 a.m. at the intersection of Jerome Street and Vine Drive.

The bicyclist was riding south on Jerome Street when he turned right onto Vine Drive and hit the passenger side of a 2014 Ram pickup truck hauling a trailer that was driving west on Vine Drive, police said.

The bicyclist, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity and official cause of death will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office after his family has been notified, police said.

“This is a tragic situation that forever changed the lives of all involved,” said Sgt. Mike Avrech, who leads the Fort Collins police traffic unit. “Our hearts are with everyone impacted by this loss of life.”

The driver of the truck was not injured and stayed at the scene, police said.
